AbbVie Names Roxanne S. Austin as Lead Independent Director of the Board of Directors

AbbVie has announced that Roxanne S. Austin has been appointed as the new lead independent director of its Board of Directors.

Austin will take over from Glenn F. Tilton, who has held the role since 2013. Tilton will continue serving on AbbVie's Board as an independent director.

"AbbVie's Board is one of the company's greatest assets, with its strong focus on diversity, independence, and a commitment to excellence in corporate governance," said Richard A. Gonzalez, chairman and CEO of AbbVie. "Roxanne's appointment as lead independent director reflects the careful consideration of our independent directors, who unanimously agree that her vast experience and leadership qualities make her the ideal choice to guide our Board. Since joining us in 2013, Roxanne has consistently provided invaluable insights, and her expertise will be particularly critical as Rob Michael steps into the CEO role on July 1."
Gonzalez also acknowledged Tilton's contributions: "Glenn has been a steady, insightful leader whose guidance has shaped our strategy and financial success. His ongoing presence on our Board will continue to elevate our efforts."

Tilton added, "Roxanne was unanimously supported by AbbVie's independent directors, and her strategic leadership will greatly benefit the company. Serving as lead independent director has been an immensely fulfilling experience, and I look forward to continuing to collaborate with Roxanne, Rick, Rob, and the Board as we build on AbbVie's success."

In response to her appointment, Austin expressed her gratitude: "I am deeply honored by the Board's trust and excited to work closely with the leadership team as we enter this new phase of growth. I also extend my sincere thanks to Glenn, whose leadership has been marked by unwavering integrity and vision, and I look forward to his continued contributions to the Board."
