Veit Bergendahl
Rentschler Biopharma SE, a leading global contract development and manufacturing organization (CDMO) for biopharmaceuticals, has appointed Veit Bergendahl, PhD, as Chief Operating Officer and member of the Executive Board.
He succeeds Christiane Bardroff, who will leave the company during the first quarter to pursue new professional opportunities.
In his new role, Dr. Bergendahl will oversee clinical and commercial cGMP manufacturing, engineering and technology, and production automation. He brings more than 20 years of international experience across biopharmaceutical development, manufacturing, and CMC, with expertise spanning early-stage development through commercial production and regulatory compliance.
Prior to joining Rentschler, Dr. Bergendahl spent 13 years at Boehringer Ingelheim GmbH & Co KG, most recently serving as Head of Clinical Supply Biologicals. He led the commissioning of the Biologicals Development Center in Biberach, Germany, and oversaw a single-use clinical manufacturing facility with two 2,000-liter bioreactors. He previously served as Executive Director Upstream Manufacturing, managing a large-scale production facility (10x15,000L), and led multiple technology transfer projects from Phase I to commercial manufacturing.
Earlier in his career, he held roles at Miltenyi Biotec GmbH and Roche, and conducted research at the University of Wisconsin. He earned his doctorate in biology from Philipps University, Marburg.
