Vor Bio Appoints David Zaccardelli to Board of Directors

Vor Bio, a clinical-stage biotechnology company focused on developing transformative therapies for autoimmune diseases, has appointed David Zaccardelli, Pharm.D., to its Board of Directors.

Dr. Zaccardelli brings more than two decades of biopharmaceutical leadership experience, having guided multiple companies through late-stage clinical development, regulatory approvals, and successful commercial launches.

Most recently, Dr. Zaccardelli served as President, Chief Executive Officer, and a member of the Board of Directors at Verona Pharma from 2020 until its acquisition by Merck for US$10 billion in October 2025. During his leadership, Verona evolved from a clinical-stage biotechnology company into a commercial-stage organization, completing two Phase 3 clinical trials, securing U.S. FDA approval, and launching Ohtuvayre® for the treatment of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). He also led fundraising efforts exceeding US$1 billion to support product development and commercialization, while helping position Verona among Nasdaq’s top-performing biotechnology companies in 2024. In recognition of his achievements, he received the Executive of the Year award at the 2023 Scrip Awards.

Before joining Verona Pharma, Dr. Zaccardelli was President and CEO of Dova Pharmaceuticals, which was acquired by Swedish Orphan Biovitrum in 2019. He also served as Acting CEO of Cempra during its merger with Melinta Therapeutics and previously held senior executive positions at United Therapeutics Corporation. Earlier in his career, he founded a contract research organization and worked in clinical research roles at Burroughs Wellcome, Glaxo Wellcome, and Bausch & Lomb Pharmaceutical.

As part of the leadership transition, Andrew Levin, M.D., Ph.D., Advisor at RA Capital Management, has stepped down from Vor Bio’s Board of Directors following Dr. Zaccardelli’s appointment.
