Takeda Appoints Rhonda Pacheco as President of U.S. Business Unit

Takeda has appointed Rhonda Pacheco as President of its U.S. Business Unit.

Pacheco, most recently Group Vice President of U.S. Cardiometabolic Health at Eli Lilly, will also join the Takeda Executive Team. She succeeds Julie Kim, who has been appointed by Takeda’s Board of Directors to succeed Christophe Weber as President and Chief Executive Officer in June 2026.

With this transition, Kim will focus on preparing for her future role as CEO and will serve as interim head of Takeda’s Global Portfolio Division.

Pacheco brings deep expertise in commercial leadership and product launches from her tenure at Eli Lilly, where she managed complex portfolios across multiple therapeutic areas. Most recently, she played a key role in the successful launch and commercial performance of Lilly’s GLP-1 portfolio, helping to establish it as a leader in the cardiometabolic health market. Her proven ability to drive growth and deliver strategic results positions her well to lead Takeda’s U.S. operations, the company’s largest business unit.

A Massachusetts native, Pacheco holds an MBA from Duke University’s Fuqua School of Business and a Doctor of Pharmacy degree from the University of Rhode Island, where she also captained the women’s basketball team. Her appointment reflects Takeda’s commitment to strengthening its leadership team as it prepares for the next phase of growth and leadership transition.
