Adrian Bot
Cartesian Therapeutics, Inc., a clinical-stage biotechnology company focused on advancing cell therapy solutions for autoimmune diseases, has appointed Adrian Bot, M.D., Ph.D., to its Board of Directors.
Dr. Bot will also serve as a member of the company’s Science and Technology Committee, strengthening Cartesian’s scientific and translational leadership as it progresses its therapeutic programs.
Dr. Bot brings more than 30 years of biopharmaceutical research and development experience, with deep expertise across immunology, cell and gene therapy, and nanomedicine. His career reflects a strong track record of translating innovative science into clinical development and advancing novel therapeutic platforms.
Most recently, Dr. Bot served as the founding Chief Scientific Officer and Executive Vice President of Research and Development at Capstan Therapeutics, where he helped build and lead the company’s R&D strategy focused on next-generation RNA-based precision medicines. Prior to Capstan, he held several senior leadership roles at Kite Pharma and Kite, a Gilead Company, including Chief Scientific Officer, Global Head of Translational Medicine, and Head of Discovery Research.
During his tenure at Kite, Dr. Bot played a significant role in the development of first-in-class CAR T-cell therapies that have reshaped the treatment landscape for certain cancers.
Earlier in his career, Dr. Bot held senior R&D leadership positions at MannKind and Alliance Pharma, further expanding his experience across diverse therapeutic areas and development stages. He is a prolific scientific contributor, having co-authored more than 200 peer-reviewed manuscripts, abstracts, book chapters, and monographs.
Dr. Bot earned his M.D. from the University of Medicine and Pharmacy in Timisoara, Romania, and completed his Ph.D. in Biomedical Sciences at the Mount Sinai School of Medicine. His appointment is expected to significantly enhance Cartesian Therapeutics’ scientific governance and innovation strategy.
