Jurgen Berendsen
Symeres has appointed Jurgen Berendsen as Chief Financial Officer (CFO), welcoming him back to the company following his earlier role as Senior Group Controller.
His return reinforces Symeres’ leadership team at a pivotal moment in the company’s growth journey.
Jurgen brings more than 15 years of senior financial leadership experience across professional services and international trade. His background includes roles at KPMG and Hoogwegt International, and most recently at Royal Reesink, where he served as Vice President of Finance and Control. He returns to Symeres with a strong belief in the company’s mission and long-term potential, combining deep institutional knowledge with valuable external perspective gained from leading finance functions in complex, international organizations.
Jurgen previously joined Symeres in 2022 in the newly created role of Group Financial Controller. During this period, he played a critical role in major transformation initiatives, including ERP and finance systems upgrades, regulatory and compliance programs, and business continuity planning. His close collaboration with the board and hands-on leadership during the company’s restructuring phase earned him broad respect across the organization.
As CFO, Jurgen will oversee financial operations across Symeres’ global footprint, working closely with the executive team to support sustainable and scalable growth. His priorities will include strengthening financial resilience, driving operational integration across sites in the Netherlands, Finland, and the United States, and fostering transparency and trust with both internal teams and clients.
Reflecting on his decision to return, Jurgen cited a shared vision for navigating market challenges and positioning Symeres for long-term success. With a focus on innovation, including AI-enabled capabilities and integrated delivery models, his financial stewardship will be instrumental in advancing Symeres’ ambition to be a best-in-class partner for biopharmaceutical organizations worldwide.
