Mark Dawson has joined Roche Pharma Research and Early Development (pRED) from the Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre, where he served as Associate Director of Research. 

An internationally recognized leader in cancer biology, Dawson’s work in chromatin regulation and epigenetics has significantly advanced understanding of the molecular mechanisms driving cancer initiation and progression.

Alongside his clinical and translational research leadership, Dawson holds a professorial appointment at the University of Melbourne. He is an elected Fellow of the Australian Academy of Science, the Australian Academy of Health and Medical Sciences, and the European Molecular Biology Organisation (EMBO), reflecting his global scientific standing.

Dawson earned his medical degree from the University of Melbourne in 1999, followed by specialist training in haematology and a Ph.D. from the University of Cambridge. His career has been recognized with numerous prestigious honors, including the Prime Minister’s Prize for Science (Life Scientist of the Year, 2020), the Paul Marks Prize for Cancer Research, the William Dameshek Prize from the American Society of Hematology, and designation as a Howard Hughes International Research Scholar.

His combined expertise as a clinician-scientist and academic leader positions him to help drive the next generation of innovative therapies at Roche pRED.
