Parabilis Medicines, a clinical-stage biopharmaceutical company focused on developing transformative therapies for people living with cancer, has appointed Fawzi Benzaghou, M.D. as Chief Medical Officer. 

Dr. Benzaghou is a seasoned oncology leader with extensive global experience in drug discovery, development, regulatory strategy, and commercialization.

Dr. Benzaghou most recently served as Senior Vice President and Global Head of Oncology R&D at Ipsen, where he oversaw significant milestones including multiple IND submissions and key regulatory approvals. Under his leadership, Ipsen advanced approvals for Cabometyx® (cabozantinib) across several solid tumor types, as well as Onivyde® (irinotecan liposome) for pancreatic cancer. His earlier leadership roles at Ipsen included Vice President of Late-Stage Oncology, Vice President of Innovation Oncology, and Global Asset Lead for several oncology products. Prior to Ipsen, he served as Head of Development at a Europe-based clinical-stage biotech, where he played a pivotal role in the successful European approval of a prostate cancer therapy.

A board-certified pediatric surgeon, Dr. Benzaghou trained and practiced in France, including at Necker Children’s Hospital, before transitioning into the pharmaceutical industry. He holds a medical degree from Paris University, a master’s degree in strategy and management from ESSEC Business School, and an executive MBA from Harvard Business School.

At Parabilis, Dr. Benzaghou will direct clinical and regulatory strategy, advancing the company’s pipeline, including its lead program FOG-001, the first direct inhibitor of β-cateninTCF4, alongside additional novel oncology candidates.
