Dr. Giulio Draetta
Orionis Biosciences, a clinical-stage life sciences company focused on precision medicines for cancer and immune-related disorders, has appointed Giulio Draetta, M.D., Ph.D., as Chief Strategy Officer.
The appointment comes as the company continues to expand its pipeline across advanced therapeutic modalities and next-generation technology platforms.
Dr. Draetta brings decades of experience in oncology and translational research across academic, pharmaceutical, and biotechnology sectors. His expertise spans drug discovery, clinical development, and strategic portfolio management, making him well-positioned to guide Orionis through its next phase of growth.
Most recently, Dr. Draetta served as Chief Scientific Officer and Director at MD Anderson Cancer Center, where he led initiatives to accelerate the translation of scientific discoveries into clinical applications. Earlier in his career, he held global oncology drug discovery leadership roles at Pfizer and Merck & Co., Inc., overseeing multiple programs through development and commercialization. He has also co-founded several biotech companies and advised organizations on scientific and strategic development.
In his new role, Dr. Draetta will help shape Orionis’ long-term strategy as it advances a diverse pipeline built on its core platforms, including molecular glues and targeted protein degraders, conditional cytokines, and multimodal cell engagers.
The company’s integrated approach combines disease biology, immunology, chemistry, protein engineering, and AI-driven technologies to address complex challenges in oncology and immune system disorders.
