Kunal Bhatia
Strand Therapeutics has appointed Kunal Bhatia as Chief Financial Officer, further strengthening the company’s executive leadership team as it advances the development of programmable mRNA medicines.
The clinical-stage biotechnology company stated that Bhatia will help lead its financial strategy and support the next phase of corporate and clinical expansion.
Bhatia brings 15 years of investment banking and strategic advisory experience within the biopharmaceutical sector, with expertise spanning fundraising, mergers and acquisitions, and business development. Over the course of his career, he has advised more than 100 public and private life sciences companies on financing and growth initiatives.
Before joining Strand Therapeutics, Bhatia served as interim Chief Financial Officer and Chief Business Officer for a portfolio of private life sciences companies, where he supported strategic planning and operational growth. Earlier, he was a Managing Director in the Healthcare Investment Banking Group at TD Cowen, playing a significant role in expanding the firm’s life sciences franchise. He also held investment banking positions at Jefferies and Credit Suisse.
The appointment comes during a period of strong momentum for Strand Therapeutics, including the successful completion of a US$153 million Series B financing round led by Kinnevik, alongside participation from Regeneron Ventures, Amgen Ventures, and Eli Lilly. The company also recently reported initial Phase 1 clinical data for STX-001 and continues preparations for the anticipated clinical entry of STX-003 in mid-2026.
