Neurocrine Biosciences Appoints Dr. Sanjay Keswani as Chief Medical Officer

Neurocrine Biosciences, Inc. has appointed Dr. Sanjay Keswani as its new Chief Medical Officer (CMO).

With over 20 years of pharmaceutical industry experience, Dr. Keswani will lead the company’s clinical development and medical affairs activities. He succeeds Dr. Eiry W. Roberts, who has served as CMO for the past seven years and will transition into a strategic advisory role.

Dr. Keswani brings extensive executive leadership experience, having contributed to the development of numerous first-in-class and best-in-class medicines. Prior to joining Neurocrine, he was the President and CEO of ImmunoBrain, a clinical-stage biotechnology firm focused on brain repair therapies for neurodegenerative diseases. 

He will continue to serve on ImmunoBrain's board of directors. Dr. Keswani’s previous roles include Senior Vice President and R&D Head for Neuroscience, Ophthalmology, and Rare Diseases at Hoffmann-La Roche, and Vice President of Exploratory and Clinical Translational Research at Bristol-Myers Squibb, overseeing multiple therapeutic areas.

Dr. Keswani is a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians, UK, and was a faculty member at The Johns Hopkins Hospital, where he led a Neuroimmunology research lab focused on neurodegenerative diseases. He holds a First-Class honors BSc degree in Pathology & Basic Medical Sciences from St. Mary's Hospital, London, and completed his Neurology residency and fellowships in Neuroimmunology and Neurophysiology at The Johns Hopkins Hospital.

During Dr. Roberts' tenure, she played a key role in the approval of CRENESSITY™ and led successful clinical trials, including INGREZZA® (valbenazine) indication expansions.
