Appoints Mark H
Coya Therapeutics, Inc., a clinical-stage biotech focused on therapies to enhance regulatory T-cell (Treg) function in neurodegenerative diseases, has planned a board transition alongside the appointment of Mark H. Pavao as an independent director.
As part of the transition, founder Howard Berman, Ph.D., has stepped down as Executive Chairman and as a member of the Board. His departure follows a previously planned leadership shift initiated in November 2024, when Arun Swaminathan, Ph.D., was appointed Chief Executive Officer. The transition marks the completion of that succession plan.
Pavao joins the Board to fill the vacancy created by Dr. Berman’s departure. He brings more than 30 years of experience in the global biopharmaceutical industry, with a strong track record of leading commercial organizations across both emerging biotech firms and large pharmaceutical companies. His expertise includes commercialization strategy, product launches, and market expansion across multiple therapeutic areas, including neuroscience.
Over the course of his career, Pavao has held senior leadership roles at Biotech Value Advisors, LLC, R-Pharm US, and Bristol Myers Squibb. He currently serves as Chair of the Board at Medical Knowledge Group and sits on the boards of Perosphere Technologies and MiracleFeet.
This leadership update supports Coya’s continued focus on advancing its clinical pipeline and strengthening governance.
