Dr. Cristina Lopez Lopez
ProQR Therapeutics N.V., a biotechnology company pioneering transformative RNA editing therapies with its proprietary Axiomer™ platform, has announced two strategic leadership appointments to support its advancement into the clinical stage.
Dennis Hom joins as Chief Financial Officer (CFO) and Dr. Cristina Lopez Lopez, M.D., Ph.D., assumes the role of Chief Medical Officer (CMO).
Dr. Cristina Lopez Lopez brings more than 20 years of translational R&D leadership across neuroscience and rare diseases. Previously Global Head of Neurodegeneration at Johnson & Johnson, she has held prominent roles at Roche and Novartis, overseeing biomarker integration, precision medicine strategies, and late-stage clinical programs. She holds an M.D. from Universidad de Santiago de Compostela and a Ph.D. in Neuroscience from Universidad Autónoma de Madrid. At ProQR, she will lead all preclinical, translational, clinical, and regulatory efforts, guiding the pipeline of RNA editing programs with scientific and clinical excellence.
These leadership changes mark a significant step in ProQR’s strategic transition to a focused RNA editing Therapeutics Company, as former CFO Jurriaan Dekkers and Chief Corporate Development Officer René Beukema step down. Both will stay on during a transition period to ensure continuity.
