Ms. Mariko Nakafuji
Nxera Pharma Co., Ltd. has appointed Mr. Kiyoshi Kaneko as its new Chief Commercial Officer (CCO) and promoted Ms. Mariko Nakafuji to the role of Chief Legal Officer (CLO).
Mr. Kaneko brings a wealth of experience in business development, corporate strategy, and commercial leadership within the pharmaceutical and healthcare sectors. Previously, he served as Senior Vice President at AstraZeneca, overseeing commercial operations and corporate strategy in Japan, and as Senior Vice President of the Primary Care business unit. Since 2017, he has been Representative Director and President of Luye Life Sciences Group Japan, where he spearheaded strategic partnerships across pharmaceuticals, medical devices, and hospital businesses. In his new role at Nxera, Mr. Kaneko will be based in Japan and will focus on advancing the company’s commercial strategy.
Ms. Nakafuji, who joined Nxera in 2021 as General Counsel, has played a pivotal role in the company’s acquisition of the Japan and South Korean businesses of Idorsia Pharmaceuticals, as well as in various other strategic initiatives.
She previously worked at Deloitte LLP and Jones Day LLP, specializing in corporate M&A, investments, and private equity within the life sciences sector. A qualified solicitor in England and Wales, Ms. Nakafuji will now oversee global (excluding Japan) legal affairs in her new role as CLO, based in the UK.
