Amit Munshi
Sensorion, a clinical-stage biotechnology company specializing in novel therapies for hearing loss disorders, has appointed Amit Munshi as Independent Director and Chairman of the Board.
Mr. Munshi succeeds John Furey, who stepped down from his role as Independent Board Member, and will replace Khalil Barrage, who has served as interim Chairman since March 2023. Mr. Barrage will remain on the Board as a director.
This appointment follows a co-optation by the Board of Directors, with Mr. Munshi's mandate to be ratified by shareholders at Sensorion’s upcoming General Meeting.
With 35 years of experience in healthcare, Mr. Munshi brings a wealth of executive leadership expertise, having led several biotech companies to significant growth and successful exits. He was most recently the CEO of Orna Therapeutics and previously led ReNAgade Therapeutics, which was acquired by Orna in May 2024.
Notably, Mr. Munshi served as President and CEO of Arena Therapeutics, where he drove the company’s transformation and its US$6.7 billion acquisition by Pfizer in 2022. He also co-founded Kythera Biopharmaceuticals, which was acquired by Allergan for US$2.1 billion in 2015. His career also includes significant roles at Amgen Inc., where he led the European Nephrology Business Unit and played a pivotal role in launching Kineret® and acquiring Immunex Corp.
Mr. Munshi holds an MBA from The Peter Drucker Graduate School of Management and a BA in History and BS in Quantitative Economics from the University of California, Riverside.
