Savara Inc., a clinical-stage biopharmaceutical company focused on rare respiratory diseases, has appointed Dr. Yasmine Wasfi, M.D., Ph.D., FCCP, as Chief Medical Officer (CMO).

Dr. Wasfi succeeds Dr. Ray Pratt, M.D., FACP, who will transition to the role of Senior Medical Advisor. In her new role, Dr. Wasfi will report directly to Savara’s Chair and Chief Executive Officer and serve as a member of the executive leadership team, guiding the company’s clinical strategy and development programs.

Dr. Wasfi has been a key leader at Savara, previously serving as Executive Vice President, Head of Clinical Development and Clinical Operations. She brings extensive expertise in clinical research and drug development, spanning both large and small molecule therapeutics. Her experience includes advanced respiratory drug development and late-phase immunology clinical programs, demonstrating a proven ability to lead complex clinical initiatives across diverse therapeutic areas.

Before joining Savara, Dr. Wasfi held progressively senior roles at Amicus Therapeutics, Johnson & Johnson, and Merck, contributing to clinical strategy, operations, and regulatory development. She holds a B.A. in Biology from the University of Delaware, an M.D. from the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine, and a Ph.D. in Clinical Science from the University of Colorado Health Sciences Center. She completed her internship and residency in internal medicine at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania and a fellowship in Pulmonary and Critical Care at the University of Colorado Health Sciences Center.

Dr. Wasfi’s appointment strengthens Savara’s executive leadership and underscores the company’s commitment to advancing innovative therapies for rare respiratory diseases, ensuring the continued development and delivery of high-impact clinical programs.
