Donald Fong
ADARx Pharmaceuticals, Inc. has appointed Donald Fong, M.D., as its new Chief Medical Officer.
In this role, Dr. Fong will lead the advancement of the company’s clinical-stage pipeline, overseeing clinical development strategy and execution across its ongoing Phase 3 and Phase 2 trials, as well as additional clinical programs.
Dr. Fong brings extensive experience as a physician-executive, with a strong track record of advancing innovative therapies from early- to late-stage development. His expertise spans multiple therapeutic areas, including rare diseases, ophthalmology, immunology, infectious diseases, oncology, and metabolic disorders. He is also recognized for building and leading high-performing, multi-specialty medical and clinical development teams.
Prior to joining ADARx, Dr. Fong served as Chief Medical Officer at BioCryst Pharmaceuticals, where he led development programs across a diverse pipeline, including plasma kallikrein inhibitors for hereditary angioedema and diabetic macular edema. Earlier, at Annexon Biosciences, he was Vice President of Ophthalmology Clinical Development, advancing the company’s lead asset into Phase 3 trials for geographic atrophy.
Dr. Fong previously founded the clinical trials division at Kaiser Permanente Southern California, overseeing trials across medical and surgical specialties and elevating its oncology group to national prominence. He has also advised multiple U.S. Food and Drug Administration advisory committees and chaired the Dermatologic and Ophthalmic Drugs Advisory Committee. Dr. Fong completed his medical training at Harvard and earned degrees from UT Health San Antonio and Pomona College.
