Danaher Appoints Martin Stumpe as Chief Data & Artificial Intelligence Officer

Danaher Corporation, announced the creation of the new role of Chief Data & Artificial Intelligence (AI) Officer, appointing Dr. Martin Stumpe to lead this initiative.

"We are excited to welcome Dr. Stumpe to our team," said Jose-Carlos Gutierrez-Ramos, Senior Vice President and Chief Science Officer at Danaher. "His vast experience in utilizing AI to drive scientific and operational breakthroughs will be instrumental in advancing Danaher's AI and data strategy to foster continued innovation."

Dr. Stumpe joins Danaher after serving as Chief of AI at Tempus, where he led initiatives to bring precision medicine closer to reality. Prior to Tempus, he founded the Cancer Pathology project at Google, using AI to enhance cancer detection accuracy, and contributed to NASA's Kepler team at the Ames Research Center. Dr. Stumpe earned his Ph.D. in Computational & Theoretical Physics from the Max Planck Institute for Biophysical Chemistry in Germany. He will report to Dr. Gutierrez-Ramos in his new role.

Danaher has intensified its focus on AI through acquisitions, internal development, and partnerships with leading academic institutions. In December, the company will host its third annual Danaher Summit, where industry leaders and innovators will discuss AI’s transformative impact on biopharmaceutical research and development.
