Atul Mahableshwarkar
Cybin Inc. has announced the appointment of Dr. Atul R. Mahableshwarkar, M.D., DLFAPA, as Senior Vice President of Clinical Development.
In this role, Dr. Mahableshwarkar will oversee the development of Cybin's CYB003 program, a proprietary deuterated psilocybin analog, which has received Breakthrough Therapy Designation from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) for adjunctive treatment of major depressive disorder.
Amir Inamdar, Chief Medical Officer of Cybin, expressed enthusiasm about the appointment: “We are thrilled to have Dr. Mahableshwarkar join our team at this pivotal stage. His extensive experience in global Phase 3 programs and expertise across strategic, developmental, and regulatory areas will be key as we prepare for the initiation of our Phase 3 study of CYB003.”
Dr. Mahableshwarkar added, “With Cybin’s upcoming Phase 3 study for CYB003 and the Phase 2 study for CYB004 in Generalized Anxiety Disorder, I am excited to contribute to the company’s mission. I believe my experience managing Proof-of-Concept and large global trials will help advance Cybin’s portfolio and bring forward new therapeutics for patients suffering from mental health disorders."
Dr. Mahableshwarkar, a board-certified psychiatrist with extensive drug development experience, has overseen clinical trials in a range of conditions including Alzheimer's disease, anxiety disorders, bipolar disorder, and major depression. He holds a medical degree from the Armed Forces Medical College in India and completed his residency in Psychiatry and a fellowship in Neuropsychiatry at The Rosalind Franklin University of Health Sciences/The Chicago Medical School. Dr. Mahableshwarkar has authored more than 180 scientific publications and presentations.
