Insmed Announces ARIKAYCE® For the Treatment of Mycobacterium Avium Complex (MAC) Lung Disease

Insmed, Inc. has unveiled ARIKAYCE® (amikacin liposome inhalation suspension) as a breakthrough treatment for Mycobacterium Avium Complex (MAC) lung disease in adult patients as part of a combination antibacterial drug regimen.

MAC lung disease is a chronic and debilitating condition with high risks of morbidity and mortality. ARIKAYCE is also being evaluated as a potential therapy for lung infections caused by Non-Tuberculosis Mycobacteria (NTM) in patients with Cystic Fibrosis (CF) and other lung diseases. This treatment offers hope to patients who haven't responded to existing standard care and aims to address the significant unmet needs in this challenging patient population. Insmed is dedicated to granting access to ARIKAYCE for eligible MAC lung disease patients and providing comprehensive support throughout their treatment journey.

Patients prescribed ARIKAYCE will receive a Medication Guide containing vital safety information, including a boxed warning, along with detailed instructions for product use. Insmed highlights that the liposomal packaging of amikacin allows for targeted delivery to macrophages at high concentrations, suggesting that the particle nature of the liposomes plays a pivotal role in its efficacy. ARIKAYCE is administered once daily using the Lamira™ Nebulizer System.
