Aegis Therapeutics has recently introduced a revolutionary technology called Intravail absorption enhancement technology. This technology has the potential to significantly improve the bioavailability of nasal drug delivery. Similar to its effectiveness in solid dosage forms, it demonstrates solubility enhancement effects.
In a groundbreaking development, this technology has been successfully applied to a pill for the first time, resulting in an approximately 50% increase in the availability of the decongestant phenylephrine.
The Intravail technology utilizes excipients derived from alkylsaccharides. These excipients have demonstrated the ability to facilitate the passage of small molecules and therapeutic proteins (up to 30,000 Daltons) through the nasal mucous membranes.
One notable advantage of this technology is that it minimizes irritations commonly associated with the delivery of large amounts of proteins through sensitive nasal tissues.
