Upperton to Construct a £15m Development and GMP Manufacturing Facility in Nottingham
Introduction:
Upperton Pharma Solutions, a prominent contract development and manufacturing organization (CDMO) based in the UK, is in the process of constructing its new development and GMP manufacturing headquarters in Nottingham.

The facility will include ten GMP manufacturing suites, quality control laboratories, and formulation development capabilities with a pilot plant.
With the new site, Upperton will have a significant increase in manufacturing space from 1,300 sq.ft. to 13,000 sq.ft.
Additionally, the analytical laboratory space will expand from 880 sq.ft. to 8,500 sq.ft.
The facility is designed to handle potent and controlled drugs in various dosage forms.
It will support early formulation development, clinical trial supplies (Phase 1 to Phase 3), and niche-scale commercial manufacturing.
Upperton Pharma Solutions in Nottingham will cover a total area of 50,000 sq.ft.
Commercial-scale equipment, including powder blending (up to 250 kg per batch), capsule filling (up to 40,000 capsules/hour), dry granulation processing (up to 100 kg/hour), and tablet pressing (up to 120,000 tablets/hour), will be available.
The aim is for the facility to become fully operational by Q4 2023, initially for development and non-GMP manufacturing, followed by GMP operations starting in January 2024.
