Takeda Invests US$71 million in New Plasma-Derived Therapies Facility in Japan

Introduction:

Takeda is set to invest US$71 million in the construction of a new manufacturing facility for plasma-derived therapies (PDTs) in Osaka, Japan. 

Features:

This marks Takeda's largest-ever investment in manufacturing capacity expansion in Japan.

The facility, located at Takeda's Juso plant, will significantly increase the production capacity of Takeda's current plasma manufacturing site in Narita, Japan. 

It will adhere to the highest global manufacturing standards and incorporate the latest automation and digital technologies. 

The fully integrated plant will encompass teardown, fractionation, and purification, filling, and finishing capabilities, along with a cold storage warehouse.

Moreover, the design of the facility will prioritize environmental sustainability, aligning with Takeda's goal of achieving net-zero greenhouse gas emissions related to operations. The Narita plasma manufacturing site will continue operating until at least the end of the decade, with ongoing maintenance investments.

Takeda's investment in this state-of-the-art facility aims to enhance its local and global production capabilities, allowing for the sustainable treatment of more patients in Japan.

The facility is expected to become operational by around 2030.
