Takeda Invests US$764 million in a Plasma-Derived Manufacturing Facility in Japan

Introduction:

Takeda will invest US$764 million in a new plasma-derived therapies (PDT) manufacturing facility In Osaka, Japan.

Features:

It is the largest investment Takeda has ever made in Japan to expand its manufacturing capabilities.

Utilizing cutting-edge digital and automation technologies, the facility will meet the highest global manufacturing standards.

In addition to a cold storage facility, it will be able to disassemble, fractionate, purify, fill, and finish products.

By 2035, Takeda will achieve net-zero greenhouse gas emissions from operations, including scopes 1 and 2.

As part of ongoing maintenance-related investments, Takeda's current Narita plasma manufacturing facility will continue to operate through the end of the decade.

The new, state-of-the-art, facility will be the biggest of its kind in the country when it opens in 2030.

The new plant will enable Takeda to sustainably serve more patients in Japan while also increasing the capacity of its global manufacturing network. Its capacity approximately doubles that of the company's current plasma manufacturing facility in Narita, Japan.
