PCI Pharma Invests US$50 million for Biologics Facility Expansion in USA

PCI Pharma Services is investing US$50 million to expand its biologics facility in Rockford, Illinois, USA.

The expansion project will add 200,000 square feet to the facility, enhancing PCI's capacity for injectable drug-device combination product assembly of both biologics and small molecules.
The new facility will feature over 20 dedicated customer suites equipped with multiformat machines for assembling and packaging vials, pre-filled syringes, auto-injectors, and pen-cartridge combinations. These capabilities will support the production of drugs for diabetes, obesity, oncology, and autoimmune diseases.
PCI's Rockford location will offer extensive product testing capabilities, state-of-the-art cartoning technology, and advanced injector and pen assembly equipment. Additional features include on-site cold storage, high-speed vial labeling, serialization, testing, and drug product release.
With this expansion, PCI strengthens its specialty drug leadership in the Midwest, complementing its clinical and commercial sterile fill-finish capabilities in Madison, Wisconsin.
The Rockford facility will serve as a second hub in the United States, expanding from PCI's foundation in the Northeast and its Bedford, New Hampshire campus for aseptic processing.
The company also has sterile fill-finish capabilities in Leon, Spain; San Diego, California; and Melbourne, Australia.
The Rockford expansion is projected to create 250 jobs in the region over the next two years, with ongoing growth over the following three to five years. The site is expected to be fully operational by the summer of 2024.
