Novartis Strengthens Radioligand Therapy Supply in U.S. with $23B Investment
Introduction
Novartis has announced plans to construct its fourth radioligand therapy (RLT) manufacturing facility in Winter Park, Florida. This purpose-built, 35,000-square-foot facility is part of the company’s $23 billion US investment programme announced in April 2025. The expansion aims to bring innovative cancer treatments closer to patients by strengthening US manufacturing capabilities, improving speed, reliability, and access.
Features
Radioligand therapy combines a tumour-targeting molecule with a therapeutic radioisotope, delivering radiation directly to cancer cells while minimising impact on healthy tissue.
Each dose is prepared individually and must be delivered promptly, making proximity to treatment centres and transport hubs essential.
This facility will optimise the delivery of RLT medicines to patients in the southeastern US and support Novartis’ continued ability to administer over 99% of doses on the planned day.
It forms part of a US network of RLT facilities, including sites in California, Indiana, and New Jersey, with a fifth facility planned to further expand capacity.
The Winter Park RLT facility is expected to be operational by 2029, contributing to Novartis’ broader strategy to expand US manufacturing and improve patient access to cutting-edge cancer therapies.
