Northway Biotech Invests €61M to Expand Cell Therapy Manufacturing in Lithuania

Introduction

Northway Biotech has announced the construction of a new advanced cell therapy manufacturing centre in Vilnius, Lithuania, with an investment of €61 million. Located within the Bio City III biotechnology park, the facility will strengthen the country’s life sciences infrastructure and support the large-scale production of advanced cell and gene therapies for global pharmaceutical and biotechnology markets.

Features

The centre will include 20 independent cGMP-compliant production lines, integrated quality control laboratories, advanced cleanroom systems, and dedicated infrastructure designed for sensitive cell therapy production.

The facility will support the safe and efficient manufacture of personalised therapies while ensuring high levels of sterility, traceability, and contamination control.

Around 100 highly qualified specialists are expected to work at the site across biotechnology, molecular biology, and bioengineering disciplines.

The centre will focus on the production of CAR-T therapies, personalised vaccines, regenerative medicine products, and other advanced biological medicines.

It will also support future research into 3D human tissue technologies for drug development and regenerative medicine applications.

Integration with the nearby Gene Therapy Centre will create a connected biotechnology ecosystem, helping to accelerate production processes and strengthen Lithuania’s life sciences sector.
