Lilly Announces New $3.5B Injectable Manufacturing Facility in Pennsylvania

Introduction:

Eli Lilly and Company has announced plans to invest more than $3.5 billion in a new injectable medicine and device manufacturing facility in the Lehigh Valley, Pennsylvania. The site will support the production of next-generation weight-loss therapies and forms part of Lilly’s wider strategy to expand domestic medicine manufacturing in the United States.

Features:

The new facility will be located in Fogelsville, Pennsylvania, and will serve as Lilly’s latest manufacturing site for injectable medicines and delivery devices.

It will focus on producing advanced weight-loss therapies, including investigational treatments. The site will use advanced technologies such as artificial intelligence, machine learning, integrated monitoring systems, and data analytics to support efficient operations and ensure a reliable supply of medicines.

The project will create around 850 permanent, high-value jobs, including roles for engineers, scientists, technicians, and operations staff, while construction is expected to generate approximately 2,000 jobs.

Lilly will also work with local universities and invest in education and workforce development across Pennsylvania to build long-term talent.

The facility is scheduled to become operational in 2031, strengthening Lilly’s U.S. manufacturing network and supporting long-term access to essential medicines.
