Genentech to Invest US$750 Million in Oregon Device Fill-Finish Facility
Introduction
Genentech, a member of the Roche Group, plans to invest approximately US$750 million in a new device fill-finish manufacturing facility at its 75-acre campus in Hillsboro, Oregon. The project will add end-to-end manufacturing capabilities for drug delivery devices and increase production capacity to support Roche and Genentech’s future medicine portfolio.

The new facility will manufacture advanced drug delivery devices, including pre-filled syringes and autoinjectors, which are increasingly used to enable convenient medicine administration outside hospital settings.
Designed for flexibility, the site will support both high- and low-volume production across a range of medicines.
The investment is expected to create around 250 high-wage manufacturing jobs and approximately 200 construction jobs in Oregon during development.
The facility will also allow Genentech to adapt production capacity as its medicine portfolio and manufacturing requirements change.
The Hillsboro project adds to Genentech’s wider US manufacturing expansion, following the development of a new facility in Holly Springs, North Carolina.
Focused on supporting the global production of future metabolic medicines, including next-generation obesity treatments.
