Eli Lilly Invests $4.5 Billion to Expand Indiana Manufacturing Facilities
Introduction
Eli Lilly and Company has announced an additional investment of $4.5 billion across two of its manufacturing sites in Lebanon, Indiana, increasing the company’s total capital expansion commitment in Indiana since 2020 to more than $21 billion. The expansion supports growing demand for the company’s medicines and strengthens its long-term manufacturing capabilities in the United States.

The additional $4.5 billion investment will introduce new manufacturing technologies and advanced process designs at Lilly Lebanon API and Lilly Lebanon Advanced Therapies.
The newly opened Lilly Lebanon Advanced Therapies facility will support both clinical and commercial production of genetic medicines, covering research-stage development through to large-scale manufacturing.
The Lebanon campus will also include Lilly Lebanon API and the Lilly Medicine Foundry.
The API facility is planned to manufacture medicines including Zepbound, Mounjaro, Foundayo and the investigational obesity treatment retatrutide.
Once operational, the Lebanon API site is expected to become the largest active pharmaceutical ingredient production facility in US history.
