Axplora Invests €50 Million in Mourenx Site Construction
Introduction:
Axplora, a global leader in API small molecule and ADC manufacturing, has announced a €50 million investment in its Mourenx facility in southwest France. This development aims to strengthen its role in addressing cardiovascular and metabolic diseases while enhancing its contract manufacturing capabilities for APIs and drug substances used in FDA-approved biologics.
Features:
Specialising in large-scale API industrial chemistry and chromatography, the Mourenx site will be upgraded to become a centre of excellence within Axplora’s network.
This investment will support advancements in peptide purification within a biologics environment and contribute to the development of next-generation therapies, including GLP-1 drugs designed for diabetes and obesity treatment.
The initiative reflects Axplora’s commitment to working with pharmaceutical companies, promoting innovation, and supporting local economic growth.
By enhancing the Mourenx infrastructure, the company aims to play a key role in manufacturing therapies that address significant health challenges.
The project will focus on industrial chromatography, with efforts directed towards ensuring the facility is ready for Biologics License Application (BLA) submission within 15 months.
A dedicated cross-functional team is collaborating with local authorities and industry partners to achieve this goal.
Construction and infrastructure development are set to begin immediately, with the first supply of GLP-1 therapies expected by 2026.
