AGC Pharma Chemicals has inaugurated a new state-of-the-art manufacturing facility in Malgrat de Mar, Barcelona, representing an investment of over €100 million. The plant marks a major step in the company’s growth strategy and long-term commitment to producing life-saving therapies, particularly in oncology and other high-potency pharmaceutical areas.
Features
The 7,500 m² facility increases production capacity by 30% and introduces a dedicated segment for Highly Potent Active Pharmaceutical Ingredients (HPAPI) at OEB5 level.
It supports the full drug development lifecycle, from research and development to commercial manufacturing, and is equipped with advanced reactors and containment systems to safely manage high-potency substances.
The plant’s horizontal and modular design optimises operational control, space utilisation, and future scalability, while meeting the highest international standards for safety and quality.
In addition to manufacturing, the site includes R&D, kilo laboratories, and quality control laboratories, creating a comprehensive ecosystem for HPAPI production.
The new facility strengthens AGC Pharma Chemicals’ capacity for innovation and sustainability, supports the creation of highly qualified jobs, and contributes to Catalonia’s position as a global leader in the pharmaceutical sector.
