Asymchem to Operate Development and Manufacturing Facilities at Former Pfizer API Pilot Plant in Sandwich (UK)

Asymchem Laboratories (Tianjin) Co, Ltd. (stock codes: 002821.SZ/6821.HK) today announced that it will operate Pfizer UK's former small molecule API pilot plant, as well as part of its development laboratories, in as part of a new lease agreement between Asymchem and Discovery Park, establishing Asymchem's first manufacturing footprint in Europe. Asymchem will continue to operate the Sandwich, Kent site as a clinical small molecule development and manufacturing facility to meet international customers' demands for pharmaceutical services and supplies.

The development laboratories are expected to start operating in June 2024, followed by the API pilot plant which will begin operations in August. The site is expected to employ around 100 staff by the end of 2024, including many people previously employed by Pfizer. Additions are planned at the site, including peptide and oligonucleotide manufacturing capabilities, as well as sustainability capabilities using continuous flow and biocatalysis.
