Teva and Fosun Pharma Form Strategic Partnership to Advance Development of TEV-56278 in Cancer Immunotherapy
Tuesday, June 17, 2025
Teva Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd. and Shanghai Fosun Pharmaceutical (Group) Co., Ltd. have announced a strategic collaboration through their respective subsidiaries for the development of TEV-56278, an investigational anti-PD1-IL2 ATTENUKINE therapy for cancer treatment.
TEV-56278 is based on Teva’s proprietary ATTENUKINE technology, which introduces a new mode of action aimed at delivering effective treatment with reduced toxicity across various cancer types. The therapy is designed as a targeted immunotherapy that directs IL-2 to PD-1 positive T cells, enhancing immune activity against tumours while limiting impact on healthy tissue.
As part of the agreement, Fosun Pharma has been granted exclusive rights to develop, manufacture, and commercialise TEV-56278 in mainland China, Hong Kong SAR, Macau SAR, Taiwan, and selected Southeast Asian countries. Teva will retain rights to the therapy in all other regions. This collaboration is expected to speed up the generation of clinical data, which Teva may use to support development in other parts of the world.
The partnership combines Teva’s expertise in innovative drug development with Fosun Pharma’s experience in oncology and commercial strength in Asia. This joint effort represents a step forward in expanding global access to next-generation immuno-oncology therapies.
TEV-56278 is currently under investigation as a monotherapy and in combination with pembrolizumab. Preclinical studies have shown positive results, including tumour shrinkage, increased T-cell activity within the tumour, and long-lasting immune responses.
The new alliance supports the ongoing advancement of TEV-56278 as a potential treatment option for patients facing difficult-to-treat cancers.
