Roche launches NVIDIA-powered AI factory to advance therapeutics and diagnostics development

Roche has expanded its global AI infrastructure with the launch of a large-scale AI factory powered by advanced computing from NVIDIA. The system includes 2,176 high-performance GPUs deployed across the United States and Europe and is integrated across the company’s complete value chain to speed up the development of diagnostics and therapeutics.
With this expansion, Roche’s combined on-premise and cloud-based infrastructure now exceeds 3,500 Blackwell GPUs, representing one of the largest GPU deployments in the pharmaceutical sector.
The development builds on a strategic collaboration with NVIDIA that began in 2023. The enhanced infrastructure is intended to support faster drug development by using high-quality data and advanced AI capabilities.
The AI factory acts as a high-performance computing platform supporting digital transformation across Roche’s operations. In research and development, NVIDIA BioNeMo is used to support a Lab-in-the-Loop approach, linking biological and chemical experiments with AI models. This allows scientists to test ideas at scale and accelerate discovery.
In manufacturing, digital twin technology powered by NVIDIA Omniverse enables virtual modelling of production lines to improve processes and factory design. In diagnostics, accelerated computing and NVIDIA Parabricks software support the analysis of large datasets, while digital pathology tools help identify disease patterns from medical images. In digital health, NVIDIA NeMo Guardrails is used to ensure safe and reliable conversational AI systems.
The expanded collaboration is expected to strengthen Roche’s capabilities in AI-driven drug discovery and support the development of more advanced predictive models, helping to reduce the time required to bring new medicines and diagnostic solutions to patients.
