Rein Therapeutics receives US FDA Fast Track designation for LTI-03 in idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis

Friday, August 21, 2026

Rein Therapeutics has received Fast Track designation from the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) for LTI-03, an investigational treatment being developed for idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis (IPF).

Fast Track designation is intended to support the development and review of medicines for serious conditions where there is an unmet medical need. It can provide companies with more frequent communication with the FDA during development and may allow marketing applications to be submitted on a rolling basis. Eligible programmes may also be considered for Accelerated Approval and Priority Review if they meet the relevant regulatory requirements.

LTI-03 is currently being evaluated in the Phase 2 RENEW clinical trial, which is being conducted across five countries. Rein expects to report interim data from the study in the second half of this year.

IPF is a chronic and progressive lung disease in which scar tissue builds up in the lungs, gradually making breathing more difficult. Existing treatments can slow disease progression in some patients but do not reverse or stop the condition. Median survival after diagnosis is estimated at around three to five years.

The Fast Track designation adds to the Orphan Drug designation previously granted by the FDA to LTI-03 for the treatment of IPF.

The designation is expected to support Rein's efforts to advance LTI-03 through clinical development and potentially accelerate its regulatory review.
