QuVa Pharma Strengthens RFID Capabilities for Pre-Tagged, Ready-to-Administer Injectables
Wednesday, June 14, 2023
QuVa Pharma, Inc. has announced its plans to expand its RFID capabilities for pre-tagged injectable products. The company will be incorporating RFID tags that adhere to GS1's global standards, ensuring interoperability and compatibility. By adopting this open RFID standard, QuVa Pharma aims to support the adoption of medication management systems and meet the growing demand for pre-tagged products in healthcare facilities.
According to Stuart Hinchen, QuVa Pharma's CEO, the decision to enhance their RFID labeling platform was driven by customer feedback and the need for interoperability across various systems managing inventory, medication dispensing, tracking, and diversion detection in hospitals. The expansion of their RFID capabilities will enable QuVa Pharma to provide hospitals with products that can be easily integrated into medication management platforms and read by RFID-supporting technologies.
QuVa Pharma will embed RFID tags into the primary labels of their sterile, ready-to-administer syringes. This unit-level tracking will facilitate efficient inventory management and streamline processes for healthcare providers. The adoption of GS1 standards ensures that QuVa Pharma's products will be compatible with medication management platforms like IntelliGuard™, AmerisourceBergen's Cubixx®, Healthcare Logistics' Stat Stock™, and Bluesight's Kitcheck.
This expansion in RFID capabilities will allow hospitals to access pre-tagged products more easily, reducing the burden of self-tagging and enabling seamless integration with existing technology platforms. QuVa Pharma aims to support medication management efforts and improve operational efficiency in healthcare facilities through their enhanced RFID capabilities
