Moberg Pharma and Karo Healthcare Forge Exclusive License to Launch MOB-015 (Terclara®) Across 19 European Markets

Wednesday, November 05, 2025

Moberg Pharma AB has announced the signing of an exclusive license agreement with Karo Healthcare AB for the European commercialization and distribution of its innovative fungal nail treatment, MOB-015 (Terclara®). Under the terms disclosed today, November 5, 2025, the collaboration spans 19 European territories—including all major EU nations and the UK—affording the two companies an integrated launch approach that capitalizes on Karo Healthcare’s established pan-European presence. Karo Healthcare, well-known for its deep portfolio in over-the-counter and prescription pharmaceuticals, is set to leverage its broad distribution channels to maximize market penetration upon launch.

The agreement carves out a clear strategy for introducing Terclara® under the globally recognized Lamisil® brand, which is anticipated to hasten adoption rates among medical professionals, pharmacies, and wholesalers across the region. The arrangement also accounts for regulatory requirements pertaining to brand name changes; as a result, countries with current product approval will be prioritized to expedite access ahead of an expanded EU roll-out.

The coordinated launch of MOB-015 (Terclara®) addresses significant demand in Europe’s onychomycosis (nail fungus) market, a key focus of innovation in antifungal pharmacotherapy. The disease, which affects millions of Europeans, is considered difficult to treat, and MOB-015’s clinical data suggest notable efficacy and a differentiated profile. With its link to the Lamisil® brand—already an established first-line name in topical antifungals—the product is well-positioned to draw physician trust and patient adherence. Moberg Pharma’s CEO Anna Ljung commented that this partnership allows rapid, large-scale market access, citing Karo Healthcare’s strategic competencies and ambitions in both prescription and non-prescription channels as critical assets for long-term commercial success.

Financial terms remain confidential, but Moberg Pharma has signalled the deal includes sales-based royalties and compensation for delivered product volumes, aligning incentives for both parties. Furthermore, both sides have committed to expand marketing authorizations to additional European jurisdictions as rapidly as feasible. Karo Healthcare’s new backing by global investment firm KKR underscores the company’s capacity for accelerated launches and cross-border scalability.

Strategically, the collaboration represents a notable evolution for Moberg Pharma which, having successfully introduced Terclara® in smaller Scandinavian markets, is now scaling into the continent’s largest pharmaceutical markets through a partner with pan-European reach. Karo Healthcare’s strong footprint in pharmacy retail, coupled with the recognition of Lamisil®, creates the foundation for MOB-015 (Terclara®) to become Europe’s leading solution in its therapeutic class. The partnership also frees Moberg Pharma to allocate resources toward product launches in other major territories, notably North America, as part of its international growth blueprint.

Regulatory steps remain before the full EU-19 launch can unfold, especially in markets where rebranding to Lamisil® requires regulatory review. Nevertheless, both companies have affirmed their commitment to pursue these processes in tandem with local health authorities to secure a unified pan-European launch as swiftly as possible. This deal thus stands as a robust example of contemporary B2B pharma partnering—combining innovative product pipelines, established commercial infrastructure, and a regulatory playbook designed for rapid, region-wide deployment—potentially reshaping the European antifungal treatment landscape in the coming years.
