Hansa Biopharma signs €115 million IDEFIRIX licensing agreement with SERB Pharmaceuticals

Wednesday, May 20, 2026

Hansa Biopharma has entered into an exclusive licensing agreement worth €115 million with SERB Pharmaceuticals for the development and commercialisation of IDEFIRIX (imlifidase) across Europe and the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region.

The agreement covers the European Union, the United Kingdom, Switzerland, Norway, Liechtenstein, Iceland and MENA markets.

IDEFIRIX is a first-in-class therapy designed to rapidly cleave all classes of immunoglobulin G (IgG) antibodies within two to six hours. The treatment has conditional approval from the European Commission for desensitisation treatment in highly sensitised adult kidney transplant patients with a positive crossmatch test against an available deceased donor.

Under the terms of the agreement, Hansa will receive an upfront payment of €110 million and an additional €5 million after acceptance of the filing for full approval of IDEFIRIX by the European Medicines Agency.

SERB will take responsibility for the long-term post-authorisation efficacy study follow-up and an ongoing paediatric study once market authorisation transfer is completed. Hansa will continue to support SERB during the regulatory filing and review process following the release of topline data from the post-authorisation efficacy study.

The transaction remains subject to customary conditions, including foreign direct investment regulatory approval, and is expected to close within 60 days.

SERB is a privately owned specialty pharmaceutical company focused on rare diseases, medical emergencies and medical countermeasures. The company operates in 18 countries and markets more than 70 products globally.
