Haisco and Lilly Enter Research and Licensing Partnership for Innovative Medicines

Haisco Pharmaceutical Group Co., Ltd. has entered into a licensing and research collaboration with Eli Lilly and Company to develop innovative medicines across multiple therapeutic areas.

Under the agreement, Haisco will be responsible for discovering and identifying up to five innovative drug targets. Lilly will oversee investigational new drug (IND)-enabling studies, clinical development and commercialisation activities.

Lilly will receive exclusive worldwide rights to certain programmes. For other programmes, Lilly will hold exclusive rights outside mainland China, Hong Kong, Macau and Taiwan, while Haisco will retain commercial and development rights within those territories.

The partnership supports Haisco’s international growth strategy and is intended to accelerate the development of innovative therapies for patients worldwide. It also marks the first research and licensing collaboration between Haisco and Lilly.

By combining their expertise in drug discovery and development, the two companies aim to advance innovative therapeutic candidates through global development pathways.

Under the terms of the agreement, Haisco is eligible to receive up to US$87 million in upfront and near-term payments. The company could also receive up to US$2.967 billion in potential milestone payments, in addition to tiered royalties in the single-digit percentage range on future product sales.
