Grünenthal, a leading pharmaceutical company specializing in pain research and management, has recently announced significant investments in its Latin American production sites. These investments are intended to bolster Grünenthal's manufacturing network, ensuring a reliable supply of medicines across Latin America, Europe, and other regions.
Grünenthal operates five manufacturing sites in Germany, Switzerland, Italy, Chile, and Ecuador. The company has allocated over €80 million to enhance production capabilities in Latin America, emphasizing standardized practices across all global sites to ensure product quality and regulatory compliance.
Victor Barbosa, Head of Global Operations and Executive Board member, highlighted the strategic importance of these investments: "Our commitment to long-term competitiveness in Latin America is reflected in these initiatives. We aim to deliver safe, reliable, and efficient medicines globally, leveraging our strengthened manufacturing capabilities."
In Santiago de Chile, where Grünenthal has operated for 45 years, the company has made its largest investment in three decades with a new 3,500-square-meter facility capable of producing up to 1.8 billion tablets annually. This facility, equipped with advanced technology, reinforces Grünenthal's position as a leader in Chile's pharmaceutical manufacturing sector and supports employee training and specialization.
In Quito, Ecuador, Grünenthal operates Latin America's largest and most advanced pharmaceutical manufacturing plant, spanning 50,000 square meters. This facility, certified by EU Good Manufacturing Practice standards, plays a crucial role in supplying high-quality tablets to pain patients across Europe, with production expected to reach 300 million tablets annually from 2025 onwards.
Grünenthal's investments in Latin America aim not only to strengthen its regional presence but also to uphold global healthcare standards through enhanced production capabilities and rigorous quality control measures.
