Er-Kim Signs Exclusive Agreement with Puma Biotechnology to Distribute NERLYNX® for Breast Cancer in Eastern Europe and Central Asia
Thursday, May 01, 2025
Er-Kim, a pharmaceutical company focused on introducing innovative therapies across the EMEA region, has signed an exclusive distribution agreement with Puma Biotechnology, Inc. (NASDAQ: PBYI). Under this agreement, Er-Kim will commercialise NERLYNX® (neratinib) in selected countries across Eastern Europe and Central Asia.
NERLYNX is a targeted therapy that works by blocking the human epidermal growth factor receptor 2 (HER2), which plays a role in the growth and spread of certain types of breast cancer. It is used to treat adults with early-stage HER2-positive breast cancer who have previously received trastuzumab-based treatment. It is also approved in combination with capecitabine for adults with metastatic HER2-positive breast cancer who have already been treated with two or more anti-HER2 therapies.
The agreement covers the distribution of NERLYNX in Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Georgia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, and Uzbekistan.
Breast cancer remains the most commonly diagnosed cancer in women worldwide and the second most common cancer overall. According to the International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC), in 2022 there were an estimated 2.3 million new breast cancer cases and 670,000 deaths globally. However, access to treatment varies widely across regions.
With this partnership, Er-Kim aims to improve access to NERLYNX in countries where treatment options for HER2-positive breast cancer may be limited. The company continues to focus on supporting patients across the region by introducing proven and effective therapies, particularly in the area of women’s health.
