DAAN Biotherapeutics and GC Cell Sign Exclusive Licensing Deal to Support CAR-T and CAR-NK Cell Therapy Development
Monday, April 21, 2025
DAAN Biotherapeutics, a company focused on developing innovative T-Cell receptor (TCR)-based treatments, has entered into an exclusive licensing agreement with GC Cell, a firm involved in gene and cell therapies. Under this agreement, GC Cell gains exclusive rights to use a tumour antigen-specific antibody sequence owned by DAAN Biotherapeutics in the development of CAR-T (chimeric antigen receptor T cell) and CAR-NK (chimeric antigen receptor natural killer cell) therapies.
The antibody targeted in this collaboration is directed at a tumour antigen that is strongly expressed in several common solid tumours, including lung and colorectal cancers. This particular antigen has been widely used by pharmaceutical companies to develop advanced cancer treatments. DAAN Biotherapeutics' antibody is designed to offer greater precision compared to currently available options, aiming to reduce side effects while improving the overall effectiveness of cell therapies.
By combining DAAN Biotherapeutics’ antibody with GC Cell’s cell therapy technology, the two companies aim to improve the performance of CAR-based therapies and potentially expand their application in treating solid tumours.
The licensing arrangement includes an upfront payment, development and commercial milestone payments, and future royalties based on product sales. Financial terms have not been disclosed to maintain confidentiality and protect proprietary information.
This partnership marks an important step in the advancement and potential commercialisation of cell-based therapies targeting solid cancers.
