Friday, January 31, 2025
Chugai Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd. has entered into a collaboration agreement with GSK's Global Health Unit (GSK GH) to advance the development of an anti-dengue virus antibody. Under this agreement, GSK GH will assess potential funding and carry out activities to support the initiation of clinical studies for AID351.
The joint development project aims to address dengue fever, classified by the World Health Organization (WHO) as a Neglected Tropical Disease (NTD). The initiative has been progressing through a collaboration between Chugai Pharmabody Research (CPR), Chugai Pharmaceutical’s research base in Singapore, and the ASTAR Singapore Immunology Network (ASTAR SIgN). The lead antibody was originally developed by A*STAR SIgN and the National University of Singapore (NUS). The project has also received grant funding twice from the Global Health Innovative Technology (GHIT) Fund.
Dengue fever remains a significant public health challenge, particularly in tropical and subtropical regions where climate conditions and limited healthcare access contribute to its impact. Through this partnership, Chugai and GSK GH aim to accelerate the development of an effective treatment for dengue fever and provide new hope for patients worldwide.
Chugai remains committed to global health initiatives and will continue efforts to develop solutions that address critical social and medical challenges.
