Catalent Completes Expansion of Clinical Supply Facility Worth $25 Million in Schorndorf, Germany

Catalent, Inc. (NYSE: CTLT) has recently completed the expansion of its clinical supply facility located in Schorndorf, Germany. This expansion marks a significant upgrade to Catalent’s flagship European site, adding 32,000 square feet (3,000 square meters) of additional space. The new space is primarily dedicated to the storage and handling of clinical trial materials within controlled room temperatures of 15 to 25 degrees Celsius.
The expansion also includes the installation of a new fully automated bottle filling line and a dedicated area for Catalent’s FastChain® demand-led supply service. Lorenzo Carletti, President of Clinical Development & Supply at Catalent, highlighted the strategic importance of the Schorndorf facility in meeting the increasing demand from pharmaceutical and biotechnology companies for clinical packaging solutions, especially those requiring temperature-controlled environments.
Operating since 1996, the Schorndorf facility offers a comprehensive range of services, including multi-lingual project management in English, French, and German, comparator sourcing, primary and secondary packaging, labeling, clinical storage, distribution, and product returns and destruction.
Catalent’s FastChain® service, which separates primary from secondary packaging, adheres to continuous Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP). This approach allows for agile and cost-effective adaptation and regional supply of clinical materials based on demand.
