BioCardia and CART-Tech Form Exclusive Partnership for Heart3D™ Fusion Imaging in Interventional Cardiology

BioCardia®, Inc. a global leader in cellular and cell-derived therapeutics for cardiovascular and pulmonary conditions, has entered into an exclusive development and commercialisation agreement with CART-Tech B.V., a provider of vendor-independent platform technology for augmented fluoroscopy in cardiac interventions.
The collaboration focuses on advancing Heart3D™ Fusion Imaging, a system designed to improve two-dimensional X-ray images used in cardiac biotherapeutic delivery and biopsy procedures. The technology works by combining these images with annotated three-dimensional heart models created before the procedure using MRI and CT scans.
Initially, the system will be introduced as a research tool with support services for preclinical studies. It is expected to later receive approval for routine clinical use. The partnership combines both companies’ expertise in positioning electrodes and drug delivery systems in the heart, along with their complementary intellectual property in cardiac fusion imaging.
Under the agreement, BioCardia will hold exclusive global distribution rights for biotherapeutic delivery and exclusive US rights for cardiac biopsy. All other distribution rights will remain with CART-Tech.
The Heart3D system is anticipated to improve image precision and procedural planning, supporting the development and delivery of cell, gene, and protein-based therapies for cardiovascular disease. BioCardia has licensed global exclusive rights to CART-Tech’s intellectual property for biotherapeutic interventions, while CART-Tech has licensed global exclusive rights to BioCardia’s intellectual property for cardiac resynchronisation therapy.
