Bayer Partners with Iambic to Accelerate AI-Driven Drug Discovery
Tuesday, June 23, 2026
Bayer has entered into a drug discovery collaboration with Iambic Therapeutics, a clinical-stage biotechnology company that develops new medicines using artificial intelligence (AI). The partnership will focus on discovering small-molecule therapies through Iambic’s AI-powered drug discovery platform.
The collaboration will use Iambic’s proprietary AI technologies, including Enchant and NeuralPLexer, to identify new drug targets and develop differentiated molecules for challenging diseases. The initiative is expected to support and strengthen Bayer’s early-stage research portfolio.
Traditional drug discovery can take 10 to 15 years and cost around USD 2.6 billion, with a high failure rate during clinical development. Through AI-based molecular optimisation, the companies aim to identify promising drug candidates more efficiently, shorten development timelines, and enhance Bayer’s future pipeline.
Under the agreement, Iambic will receive an upfront payment and will also be eligible for milestone-based and royalty payments.
