AustinPx and Microsize Collaborate on KinetiSol® Technology

AustinPx and Microsize, two contract development and manufacturing organizations (CDMOs), have formed a strategic partnership to expedite the commercial application of AustinPx’s KinetiSol® Technology platform. Through this collaboration, AustinPx's clients will be able to produce their late-phase clinical and commercial KinetiSol drug product intermediate at Microsize’s FDA-inspected facility, specialized in active pharmaceutical ingredient enhancement.
KinetiSol is an innovative technology that utilizes frictional and shear energies to rapidly generate amorphous solid dispersions (ASD) without the need for solvents. It has demonstrated superior exposure at lower doses and improved downstream processability compared to other ASD technologies. The KinetiSol platform disrupts the ASD industry with its smaller footprint, broader formulation design space for challenging molecules, and enhanced manufacturing economics.

As part of the agreement, AustinPx will transfer its proprietary KinetiSol equipment, software, and know-how to Microsize’s Quakertown facility. In return, Microsize will install and qualify the equipment for late-phase and commercial manufacturing within its cGMP manufacturing plant. Microsize will also provide staff for scale-up and commercial stage KinetiSol production, along with associated capabilities such as quality control and assurance. It is projected that Microsize will have the KinetiSol Technology available for GMP production by the end of 2024.
