Altamira Therapeutics Reveals Partnership on Radiopharmaceutical Targeting Approaches

Thursday, January 23, 2025

Altamira Therapeutics Ltd. a company focused on developing and commercialising RNA delivery technology for targets beyond the liver, has announced a collaboration with a radiopharmaceutical company to explore the potential use of its RNA delivery platform in radiopharmaceutical targeting.

Radiopharmaceutical therapy uses small amounts of radioactive substances, known as radiopharmaceuticals or radioligands, to diagnose and treat diseases, particularly cancer. Once injected, the radiopharmaceutical travels through the bloodstream to the tumour, where it binds to specific receptors. The global radiopharmaceutical market, valued at $8.4 billion in 2024, is expected to grow to $17.1 billion by 2033.

The collaboration will focus on testing the use of nanoparticles carrying an undisclosed RNA payload, in combination with the partner’s radiopharmaceuticals, both in vitro and in vivo. If the tests are successful, the partner will have the option, under certain conditions, to negotiate a licensing and supply agreement with Altamira to further develop and commercialise the RNA nanoparticles for cancer treatment.
