Friday, April 05, 2024
Aethon Therapeutics, a biotechnology company, has partnered with Revolution Medicines, Inc., a clinical-stage oncology company, to collaborate on novel antibody therapeutics for cancer treatment. The collaboration aims to utilize Aethon's HapImmune™ platform to discover bispecific antibodies that can enhance immune response against cancer cells targeted by Revolution Medicines' RAS(ON) inhibitors. This strategic partnership aims to improve tumor clearance and establish immune memory.
Under the agreement, Aethon will conduct preclinical work, funded by Revolution Medicines, with the latter retaining the option to manage any resulting clinical development. The terms include upfront and potential downstream payments to cover future development and commercialization activities.
Raj Chopra, CEO of Aethon Therapeutics, expressed enthusiasm, stating that the collaboration validates Aethon's HapImmune platform and offers an opportunity to enhance RAS targeting. Steve Kelsey, President of Research and Development at Revolution Medicines, emphasized their excitement to leverage Aethon's platform for optimizing treatments for patients with RAS-driven cancers.
Apart from this collaboration, Aethon is also advancing its own programs targeting various oncogenes and tumor suppressors using proprietary covalent inhibitors. Dr. Chopra highlighted the progress made in developing cancer-specific neoantigens to engage the immune system, indicating promising advancements in this area.
